TREATMENT INFORMATION.

FAQ

  • Cosmetic tattooing is a semi-permanent treatment designed to enhance your natural beauty and mimic the look of make-up. This treatment is highly customisable. Depending on the clients desired results, cosmetic tattooing can be created to appear soft and natural or more bold and defined. Our treatments are carried out using a specially designed machine to implant pigment into the dermis layer of the skin.

  • A topical numbing gel is used throughout the procedure and every effort is made to ensure your comfort. Pain thresholds vary from client to client. Once the numbing gel has been applied clients generally won’t feel anything and it is not uncommon for our clients to fall asleep.

  • Cosmetic tattooing has no impact on hair growth. During your appointment, we may tweeze or shave any stray hair to assist in achieving your desired brow shape. Please do not remove any eyebrow hair within one week prior to your treatment.

  • While any cosmetic procedure carries a risk of infection, we prioritise safety by maintaining strict hygiene standards and complying with all Government health and safety regulations.

Our staff wear clinical personal protective equipment, including gloves and masks, to prevent cross-contamination during every treatment.

All supplies used are disposable and immediately discarded after each client's session, including sterile needles from sealed packets for single use only.

Our salon utilises hospital-grade disinfectants and cleaning products.

Additionally, we provide thorough aftercare instructions to ensure high standards are upheld even after clients leave the salon.

  • Typically, two treatments are required. Your second appointment is the perfecting stage, where we make any necessary tweaks. Your touch-up appointment will be scheduled for 4 to 8 weeks after your initial appointment.

  • Colour retention varies from client to client depending on skin type, skin condition and lifestyle. Excessive sun exposure will soften the colour of your tattoo faster. Applying a sunscreen of SPF-50 after healing is required to help keep colour true. Adhering to your appointment preparation and aftercare will also impact the longevity of your treatment. Typically, cosmetic tattoo can last anywhere from 1-4 years. For best results we recommends getting your tattoo refreshed anywhere from 12-24 months.

  • If you have an active outbreak of cold sores on your lips on the day of your appointment, we will not be able to proceed with the treatment.

If you are prone to cold sores you must take preventative anti-viral medication such as Zovirax 5 days before, on the day of, and 5 days after your lip blush treatment (or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist).

Please be aware that if you have the herpes simplex virus, the treatment can trigger an outbreak. Taking an anti-viral medication will minimise the risk.

  • For Ombré brows, cosmetic botox in the treatment area must be done at least 2 weeks either side of your appointment.

  • Although lip filler will not impact your lip blush treatment, it is essential any lip filler treatments are done 4 weeks before or after your cosmetic tattooing treatment.

  • Immediately after your treatment and for the next few days your cosmetic tattoo will appear darker than how it will heal. During the healing process the colour will gradually lighten.

  • After your treatment you will be required to follow 10 days of aftercare. This can be found here.

  • Due to health and safety regulations only the cosmetic tattoo artist and the client are allowed in the treatment room.

  • Due to the nature of the appointment we have a strict 3 business day cancellation policy. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment outside this time frame we can move your appointment deposit, however if it is within 3 business days you will forfeit your deposit and be required to pay a deposit to secure your next booking.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Before booking your appointment please read the following to determine if you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattooing. Your overall health, skin quality and medical factors all need to be taken into consideration for your safety and best results. If you have a health condition not listed below that you think may affect your ability to undergo a cosmetic tattoo procedure, please let us know before booking your treatment.

  • • If you have diabetes, haemophilia or a heart condition it is absolutely not recommended that you get any form of permanent makeup done as this puts you in a high-risk position.

    • If you are undergoing chemotherapy you will have to wait until your treatment is finished. It is recommended to wait 12 months and you will require a letter from your doctor confirming it is safe to proceed.

    • Those on blood-thinning medication should not receive this treatment. This includes aspirin, Ibuprofen, Niacin, and Warfarin. Please receive advice from your doctor before discontinuing any medication.

    • If you have been taking Roaccutane/Accutane in the last 12 months you must wait a year before receiving any cosmetic tattoo treatments.

    • Anyone taking opioid, steroid medications, or antibiotics is not suitable for cosmetic tattoo treatments, as these medications can compromise your immune system and hinder the healing process, increasing the risk of infection and delayed recovery.

    • You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Brows: Cosmetic Botox in the treatment area must be done at least 2 weeks on either side of your appointment.

Lip Blush: Any Lip filler in the treatment area must be done at least 4 weeks on either side of your appointment.

Lip Blush: If you are prone to cold sores you must take preventative anti-viral medication such as Zovirax 5 days before, on the day of, and 5 days after your Lip Blush treatment (or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist). Please be aware that if you have the herpes simplex virus, the treatment can trigger an outbreak. Taking an anti-viral medication will minimise your chances of a cold sore breaking out.

  • If you have a skin condition like eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris and dermatitis (in the treatment area) your skin is in a constant state of unrest and shedding and therefore won’t hold the pigment very well.

The same goes for conditions like chronic acne, rosacea, or extremely sensitive skin. The inherent nature of this type of skin causes easy bleeding, which, once again, means your skin will not retain color properly.

Deep wrinkles especially those with deep 'smoker's lines' can make the overall look appear uneven and we cannot guarantee results in this skin type.

We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, moles or bumps in the treatment area.

Unfortunately, cosmetic tattooing is not suitable if you’re prone to keloid scarring.

It is important to not be sunburnt for your procedure.

You cannot have any skin treatments done 4 weeks either side of your cosmetic tattoo treatment.

  • • You must be over 18 years of age to receive any cosmetic tattoo treatments.

    • You must inform us of any previous cosmetic tattoos you have in the area to be treated BEFORE booking your appointment. Please send us a clear close-up photo of your existing tattoo so we can determine if we can work over it.

    • Retinol, Vitamin A and any eyebrow growth serums must be paused at least 1 month before your treatment as these products can cause the skin to be hypersensitive and bleed easily.

  • • Vitamin A, Glycolic acids and retinol (used on the treatment area) must be paused 4 weeks prior to your appointment.

Brows: The use of brow-enhancing serums must be paused 4 weeks prior to your treatment.

Brows: No tinting or brow lamination 4 weeks prior to your treatment.

Lip Blush: Lip filler will not impact your treatment however any lip filler must be done at least 4 weeks before or after your lip blush appointment.

  • • Any cosmetic botox in the treatment area must be done at least 2 weeks either side of your appointment.

    • No direct sun exposure or tanning products on the treatment area 2 weeks before your appointment.

  • • Cease intake of fish oil supplements 1 week before your treatment.

Brows: You may have your skin waxed/tidied prior to your appointment if you choose to but it is not required. If you choose to do this please ensure this is not within 1 week of your appointment.

Taking an anti-viral medication will minimise the risk.

Lip Blush: You are required to gently exfoliate the treatment area for up to 5 days prior. Keep your lips well-hydrated with lip balm 1 week prior to your appointment.

    • Avoid any blood thinning medications 72 hours before your appointment. This includes Nurofen, Ibuprofen, Aspirin and Niacin. Please consult your doctor if this is an issue.

  • • Do not consume any caffeine or alcohol at least 24 hours before your appointment as this can cause excessive bleeding and affect your healed results.

  • • Wash your hair the morning of your appointment. You won’t be able to get your brows wet for 10 days following your treatment, this can make hair washing more difficult.

    • Ensure you have eaten and are well hydrated before your appointment.

APPOINTMENT PREPARATION

  • Ombre Brows 10 days of aftercare:

    • Do not get your healing tattoo wet for 10 days after your treatment.

    • Do not touch the treated area as it is an open wound.

    • No swimming, spas, saunas or excessively hot steamy showers.

    • Do not perform strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating as this will cause the pigment to be pushed out of the skin, leaving you with patchy results.

Days 1-2: Gently wipe your brows with a damp cotton round or unscented baby wipe to remove any excess lymph (clear fluid). Repeat this process every 2-3 hours during this period. This will prevent the formation of scabs.

Days 3-10 Option 1: After the initial 48 hours you will need to apply a tiny amount of your aftercare ointment (given to you during your appointment) with a clean cotton tip morning and night. You may gently wipe away any old ointment with an unscented makeup or baby wipe first before reapplying.

Days 3-10 Option 2: If you have purchased Medicone gel you may use this on your brows morning and night to be able to wash your hair and face. Apply a fine smear to clean dry brows and let dry for 10 minutes. The gel will dry forming a waterproof barrier to your brows to be able to get them wet. This is for showering only.

Do not put anything else on your brows for 10 days. This includes moisturisers, makeup, oils and sunscreen as this can remove pigment and or could change the pigment tone.

After this 10 day period you may cease applying cream and resume your normal routine.

Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • • Immediately after treatment and the following week, the colour will appear darker than your desired results.

    • On days 5-10 exfoliation will take place. The top layer of the skin will flake off, leaving a much lighter colour underneath.

    • Itching is normal, do not pick or scratch your flaking brows as this will pull chunks of pigment off leaving patchy results.

    • After shedding, your brows will initially appear lighter as the skin continues to heal. The colour will slowly return to a soft, healed result over the following weeks.

    • After your brows have finished shedding, you can resume your normal routine, including wearing brow makeup if needed until colour returns.

  • Lip Blush 5 days of aftercare:

    • Do not touch the treated area as it is an open wound.

    • No excessive sweating or heat for 5 days. This includes spas, saunas or excessively hot steamy showers.

    • Refrain from eating spicy foods for the first 2 days.

    • For 5 days you are required to keep your lips extremely moisturised with cream provided. This will minimise any scabbing and itching.

    • You may wipe your lips clean with a damp cotton round prior to each application of the cream.

    • Do not put anything else on your lips for 5 days. This includes moisturisers, makeup, oils and sunscreen as this can remove pigment and or could change the pigment tone.

    • After this 5-day period, you may cease applying cream and resume your normal routine. You are welcome to wear makeup to cover any unevenness or patchiness until your touch-up appointment.

    • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks and wear sunscreen to protect your tattoo.

    • If you have the Herpes Simplex Virus (cold sores) it is essential to take an anti-viral medication such as Zovirax 5 days before, then the day of, and then 5 days after your treatment.

  • • Immediately after your treatment, your lips may present mild swelling and the colour will appear extremely bold for the first few days.

    • On days 2-3 your lips will begin to peel or flake. Do not pick any shedding skin let it fall off naturally.

    • Immediately after shedding the colour will appear extremely light but will then return to a soft healed result over the following weeks.

    • Depending on your lips and how well you have followed your aftercare, slight patchiness is normal and will be perfected at your touch-up appointment.

  • • Apply SPF-50 daily to your healed cosmetic tattoo. Sun exposure over a prolonged period of time will fade the tattoo.

    • Do not use strong chemical acids/ peels (salicylic, glycolic, lactic acids), IPL, laser or microdermabrasion on the healed cosmetic tattoo, as these will fade the tattoo over time.

    • Avoid skin care that contains Vitamin A, Retinol, AHA, near the treatment areas as this will strip the colour.
